part 1 of a much larger project investigating alaska’s commercial fishing industry. specifically salmon season in kodiak, harvesting, regulations, the individuals involved, the lifestyle, processing, transport, trade, and marketing.

my name is caitlin and i’m from a small fishing town in the gulf of alaska. in 2013, i graduated from the university of utah school of architecture with a bachelor of science degree in architectural studies. while attending school, i interned with with the firm +mooney architecture working on a competition for the redesign of the notre dame cathedral in port au prince, haiti. the following summer (2013) i moved to new haven, connecticut to attend the yale school of architecture. i graduated in the spring of 2016 with my architectural masters and moved to new york not long after. there, i worked as an teaching artist for the arts-in-education nonprofit marquis studios (2017-18). i commercial fished salmon in uganik this summer (2018) and currently work as a designer for rim architects in anchorage, alaska.
